David Teel, shown here with his fledgling steel art glass rack, toasts the sweet life. This pivotal piece became the inspiration for his La Dolce Vita design collection of distinctively elegant art pieces.
When early attempts to commission another artist to re-create his vision were unsuccessful, David took welder, torch and hammer in hand to create this beautiful, timeless work of art.
Painstakingly constructed by hand, a single one of a kind functional art piece can be made of thousands of individual steel parts, requiring hundreds of hours to create. Because of the complexity of his designs, David invented specialized techniques and tools to accomplish his vision, resulting in pieces designed to showcase their function and beauty.
Each grape cluster is created to fit in its specific location on the piece with balance and symmetry in mind. Each leaf is hand cut and hammered to achieve just the right shape for its individual location prior to being welded in place. Once the piece is constructed, it is finished with a multi-phase process to achieve a color and texture to coordinate with the surrounding decor.
Functionality is always at the forefront of each design. We feel beauty should not be limited to gallery walls or infrequent, special occasions. Whenever possible, it should be incorporated into everyday life.
Whether large or small, these handmade pieces are created to enhance the experience of the user.
